“ Came here for brunch on a busy Saturday morning. There is private parking as it's located in a small shopping area. For a party of 6 it was a 45min-an 1 hour wait. We ended up walking over to the lake nearby to stall and take some pictures. By the time we got back they were ready to seat us. Our waitress was super friendly and answered all our questions being that it was our first time. We were all a fan of their chicken fried steak! The cornbread waffle was just ok, but to be honest we were really happy with everything else we ordered. Everything came out nice and hot! We will be back the next time we're in South Lake Tahoe! ”
“ I heard from a client I should come here for Breakfast. We were seated within 10 mins from arrival. We share the country fried steak hash brown and scrambled eggs. I don't know what is the secret to their eggs but it's super fluffy. I definitely would recommend it! ”
“ Great food and service. We went there for breakfast on Monday. The place wasn't busy because it was on a Monday. Our Server was very friendly and attentive. She came around with coffee refills often. I had the Waffle Combo and the hubby had the Special: 1 egg, biscuit & gravy w/hash-brown & black coffee. My waffle came with strawberries and bananas (you can pick 2 toppings), a scrambled egg and 2 slices of bacon. The waffle was pretty thin (their original recipe), but it was still tasty. The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my breakfast because the waffle was loaded with sliced strawberries & bananas. Anyhow, the restaurant was decorated with vintage photos of South Lake Tahoe and winter sport paraphernalia. It also had old Coke and other Americana signs on the walls. The women's bathroom was decorated in red, black and white tiles with Marilyn Monroe photos. It felt like a 50s diner in there. We'll definitely return for breakfast in future visits. ”
“ Strictly based on my visit on 2/9/25. The wait was about 30 minutes for a table of 5 but it went by quick, as we grabbed a coffee at Free Bird Chai, which is the establishment connected to Red Hut Cafe. By the time our coffees were ready, it was time to get seated. The waiting area does have seats and has old retro decor which is neat. The interior of red hut cafe has a ski lift suspended in the air above the dining tables. There is a bar area and many tables for seating. The food is affordable and delicious here. Fluffy biscuits, fresh assortment of fruits, and a well done chicken fried steak! And the sodas.... the sodas here are served in old wide coke a cola cups which help air-ate the soda to make it taste better. Yes, the cup matters! There's a science behind it all. Our server was on point and kept the refills coming! Def will be coming back in the future! The wait is worth it. ”
“ Ok, Listen... I had the hash brown thing loaded with the breakfast meats and cheese and 3 eggs on top... Loved it! Sorry, I forgot what it was called. I really liked this place. Staff was welcoming. Defiantly gives the vibe of a Ski Town. When we return up here I will return for that dish. I may even stop on the way home. Update,. We went back again today. This will be our breakfast spot when visiting Tahoe! ”
“ Loved getting brunch here! Lots of fun things to look at on the walls and some history behind the business/building. I got a classic bacon eggs and hash meal with coffee and it made me full and happy. ”
“ Been coming to Tahoe every year my whole life and just went to the Red Hut for the first time this last visit. The food and service is good. Very busy breakfast place (just like everywhere else in South Lake Tahoe). I had the waffle combo - seeing the bit about it being their original recipe from however long they have had it made me really excited to try it. It was like a thin crunchy giant Eggo. Egg and sausage were good as expected. Husband had the French toast combo, it's a large serving of French toast, he was not able to finish it. He enjoyed it. We will come back next time we visit. ”
“ Greeted when we walked in and seated immediately. Server came up with the specials board. There were some great specials - the usual which I got with the biscuit gravy and hash browns with two eggs for $10. There was a seasonal pumpkin waffle and pancakes!!! And a grilled cheese and minestrone lunch for $9.75. Love all the history and old time photos and newspaper stories about the area. I've never dined at this location but it was clean and easy to park. Our server was fast and friendly. Thank you. We will be back. ”
“ Giant portions! We got our food to-go and I would do it again. Sometimes this spot is really crowded and we're happy to get the food to-go and then eat it back at our accommodations. For the 2 of us, we shared a chicken fried steak order and it was big and plentiful for the two of us. The hash is v yummy and was not as greasy as we were expecting so that was a pleasant surprise. I think we would stop by this place again during my next trip in Tahoe! ”
